Welcome to Norwich Sling Library

Norwich sling library has been helping families to carry their children safely and comfortably since 2011, run by a fully trained babywearing consultant and a team of volunteer peer supporters.

About us

We offer two Library sessions per month along side 1:2:1 consultations and group workshops. The main library session is at Lakenham Sea Scouts Hut on the second Thursday of the month, and a pop-up session at the Norwich Playhouse Bar (Piano Room) on the fourth Thursday.

At the main library session we have a baby and toddler play area where you can relax and chat to other parents. We have cloth nappy advice and samples from Norwich Nappucino (please check their facebook page to check when they’re attending), and coffee and donuts. You’re welcome to come for advice and help with your own sling, to hire one of ours, or just to socialise. There is an entry fee of £2 per family to help with the hall hire costs.

The pop-up library at the Playhouse is smaller, and just for sling hire/return or advice. There’s no entry fee for this session as the Playhouse doesn’t charge us for the use of the room, but please buy a coffee at the bar if you’re able to!

We aim to provide a friendly, warm environment and want everyone to feel welcome. We welcome diverse families of all kinds. Our sessions are wheelchair accessible.

In a library session we can offer you a 10 minute slot with a peer supporter in which we can help you with front or hip carries, either using your own sling or up to two of ours, and advise you on safety. You are then welcome to hire from our large range of carriers if you wish.

For back carries, or for more in-depth learning, we offer private consultations in your own home with a fully qualified and insured babywearing consultant. Please see our consultation page for details.

We aim to promote safe and comfortable babywearing as carrying your baby has positive effects for both baby and parent, helping promote attachment/bonding and giving parents more freedom whilst keeping baby close and secure.
